WHO DO YOU HAVE TO THANK FOR BEING IN YOUR LIFE?

Who do you have to thank for being in your life?

Who had your back when you were so overwhelmed you could barely put a thought together? Who reached out and held you in their arms when you were cold and shaking?

Who fed you, bathed you, stayed by your side while you were sick, so sick you thought you may never fully recover?

Who gave you the confidence to take that chance that changed the course of your life? Who believed in you when you did not believe in yourself?

Who forgave you time and time again as you broke their heart, left them wondering what they had done so wrong for you to treat them so poorly?

Who listened to you obsess over the same situations, the same story, again and again as if they had never heard those words leave your mouth?

Who picked you up at the airport with a coat in hand because they were worried you may get cold? Whose face did you see light up when you exited those sliding doors?

Who kept a secret that no one else knew? Who did you trust when you could not trust anyone else?

Who chose not to judge you when you did something you regretted, something that brought you so much shame that you were embarrassed to share?

Who held your hand and wiped your tears when you suffered such a tremendous loss that you felt as if your entire being had been hit by a hurricane, leaving nothing in its wake?

Who was your “go-to”, your one and only call, the person you knew you could count on to come to your rescue, to reach you no matter the time, place, or situation?

Who told you that they would never give up on you? Who came through in a pinch, with nothing whatsoever to gain on their end? Who gave of themselves selflessly?

Who made love to you, the way you wanted to be made love to? Who ran their lips along every inch of your body, awakening your senses, lighting up your soul and taking you to a place of utter bliss?

We all have someone to thank for being in our lives because without them, there would be less meaning, less love, less comfort, and really, less life.

We wait, forget, put it off, assume they already know, get caught between the here and there, the this and that, not realizing that something could happen, something tragic, something inexplicable and in a flash of a second, something that will make it too late to say, “Thank you for being in my life.”

What are you waiting for?
