REMEMBER THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE VISITED YOUR LIFE
Remember the people who have visited your life.
Think of how they first showed up, the exact spot where you met and where you
mind space was at.
Think of how different your life would be, had you never
met.
Remember the person who awoke your sensuality, whose
single glance, shook your entire being and it felt as if you knew them in a
previous lifetime.
Remember the first kiss, the taste of their sweet
lips, their hands on a journey along your body, their tongue, like lightning
over a glistening, green field.
Remember the person who told you to be careful, to
slow down, and that same person being there for you after you crashed; because
you did not slow down.
Remember someone who saved your life. Maybe they pulled
you out of the ocean when you were drowning. Maybe they took you to emergency
not knowing if it was an emergency. Maybe they talked you out of harming
yourself.
Remember the family member who most believed in you and saw you in the way you wanted to be seen. Perhaps they made you a better person and you live everyday in memory of the light they shined upon you.
Remember the friends who helped you find yourself
when you were lost. Maybe, they got you out of bed, helped you dress, let you
sleep on their couch, cooked a meal for you, brought you groceries, called you every
night and first thing in the morning.
Remember the partner who may have mistreated you or
been untrue, but you stuck by them because you’d rather a life with their
imperfections than a life alone with yours.
Remember having your family together under one roof,
now separated by time and how it moves everyone from one place to another.
Remember the family you inherited, stepsons/daughters, you helped raise.
Remember the split, a division, undivided, that caused them to vanish from your
life.
Remember someone who gave you a chance, to advance
your career, perhaps a financial loan or a reference or just four words, “I
believe in you”, that gave you the confidence to move forward.
Remember that one day, this all will end, and the
only thing you get to take with you, is love and the memories of all the people
who visited your life.
